Kim Grace Briele earned 9 varsity letters during her four years at Woodson (four in basketball, four in softball and one in tennis). A four-year starter on the softball team, Kim was named All-Region twice and All-District three times. In 1978 Kim led the Cavalier’s to a State runner-up and was named MVP of the Regional tournament. Also a four-year starter on the girls’ basketball team, Kim was selected All- Region three times, All-District four times and the team’s Most Valuable Player each of her final three years. During her senior year Kim played on the women’s tennis team. Prior to graduating from Woodson, Kim was drafted by a professional softball team. Kim attended the University of North Carolina where she played on the varsity softball and golf teams. In 1980 Kim was invited to and participated in the U.S. Olympic Basketball team trials, advancing to the final trials second cuts. After college Kim continued to play golf, qualifying for an LPGA event, attending LPGA qualifying school and earning recognition as an amateur golfer.
