The following year he was the District and Regional champion and finished runner-up in the State tournament. An injury sidelined Francis for much of his senior year, but he was able to lead the team to 2nd place in Regional team competition, losing a heartbreaking 5-4 match to South Lakes. After graduation, Francis would go on to play Varsity Tennis at University of California Santa Barbara, before transferring to the University of Virginia where he played the number 1-3 spots during his three years there.
