Tim Mangan

Boys Gymnastics
Induction Year: 2022
1992-1996

As a Cavalier, Tim Mangan competed in boys gymnastics from 1992-1996, lettering each year. Tim was selected first team All-Met three times and was named All-Met Gymnast of the Year his junior season when he won the Regional individual all-around championship. Tim excelled in the Pommel Horse, an event in which he was undefeated during his high school career (an estimated 45 victories) and earned two scores of 9.9. Tim and his teammates won consecutive Regional championships (1995 & 1996), which at the time was the highest honor in Virginia boys gymnastics because no other regions participated in the sport so there was no state meet. Despite his ability, Tim decided not to pursue gymnastics in college. Upon graduating from Woodson in 1996, Tim went on to study Communications and Spanish at Florida State University. After FSU, Tim started training to get his commercial pilot’s license. From 2001 onwards, Tim has been a commercial airline pilot and has flown for a total of three different airlines, including one overseas carrier. He currently lives in Arizona and continues to work as a commercial airline pilot.
