1971 - 1975

Jackie Gordon earned ten varsity letters during her Woodson athletic career (four in track & field, four in basketball, one in field hockey and one in swimming). Over the years Jackie won seven individual Virginia State track titles, four in discus and three in shot put, and set Virginia state records in both events. As a basketball player, Jackie was named the Cavalier’s outstanding varsity player several times and the team retired her #25. During her senior year, Jackie was named Woodson’s Athlete of the Year as well as Athlete of the Year by the Fairfax Journal newspaper. While at Woodson, Jackie received the Fairfax County School Board’s highest commendation three times for her track achievements. Jackie attended the University of Florida where she earned All-American honors in the discus multiple times and was named Lady Gator Athlete of the Year her senior year. In 2000 Jackie was inducted into the Virginia High School League Hall of Fame as an athlete.
